U.S. Won’t Stop After Caribbean Boat Strike, Defense Secretary Warns Maduro

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said Wednesday that the Trump administration will not back down after a U.S. Navy strike on a Venezuelan vessel in the Caribbean.

The Pentagon said the boat, allegedly carrying drugs from Venezuela, was targeted Tuesday. According to President Trump, members of the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua were on board, and 11 people were killed.

In an interview with Fox News, Hegseth dismissed claims the attack was fabricated and warned Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro. “He should be worried. He has some decisions to make, like whether he still wants to be a drug trafficker,” Hegseth said.

The U.S. has deployed eight warships off Venezuela’s coast, citing efforts to combat drug cartels.
